Very Timely Joke

From a wonderful Grandma-

A woman in a hot-air balloon realized she was lost.

 

She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She

shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a  friend

I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am.."

 

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a

 hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground

 elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31

 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees,

 49.09 minutes west longitude.

 

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

 

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

 

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is

 technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your

 information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been

 much help to me."

 

The man smiled and responded, "You must be an Obama

 Democrat."

 

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?"

 

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where

 you are going.. You've risen to where you are, due to a

 large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no

 idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem.

 You're in exactly the same position you were in before we

 met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

 

Silly Connor!

I don't know why exactly but this made me laugh so hard yesterday.  

I heard Connor playing in our bathroom which is a relatively normal occurrence, he loves playing in the sink. So I didn't think much of it.

A couple minutes later, he came to me like this:

From what I can figure he must've been holding his hand over the running water spout and letting it spray his head.  Boys are so silly!

By way of achievements, Connor said a Five word Sentence yesterday:

 "I want something to eat!"

Not shocking that this was his first sentence....Sam and Connor are both bottomless pits that can never be satisfied in the food department!

Four Year Anniversary!

Yesterday was Sam and my four year anniversary and I realized that it truly is the little things that count.  We had talked about getting out on the town and going to dinner at a fancy restaurant and going dancing and all kinds of different options surfaced.  When it came down to it, we settled on eating cheese quesadillas at home with the boys and taking everyone to Applebee's for dessert afterwards. With a quick run to DI and Wal-Mart after that.  

I decided to shower before we left(yeah, it was one of those days before Sam got home from work).  I locked the bedroom door because our master bathroom doesn't have a lock on it and I didn't want to have to answer any questions or do a "potty break" for Connor in the middle of my shower(my few moments of peace!).  After I hopped out, I thought I heard Bear whine and it seemed a little closer than outside of our bedroom but I shrugged it off.

Well, when I emerged from the bathroom I was surprised with a note, some flowers and a Marzipan Rittersport(my favorite!) on the bed.....it seems my husband is a lockpick!

It was a very thoughtful surprise!  He is so good at them.  

I'm terrible at surprises.  I made a really cute card for him but told him once I made it that I couldn't wait to give it to him.  And then I told him to open it first thing in the morning because I couldn't wait to hear what he thought of it. 

Lucky for me, he liked it and even chuckled a bit!

I have such a wonderful husband.  I'm so grateful for him and all he does for me and our boys.

Emergency 9-1-1!!!!!!

On Saturday, I got to accompany a few boys from our Cub Scout Pack to an Emergency 9-1-1 Preparedness event.  It was quite a day!  I think the boys had a good time and I got to do some things that I'd never done before.  To open the day they had TWO helicopter shows simultaneously!  The State Trooper helicopter was 

already on the ground when we got there. Right after opening ceremonies the AirMed helicopter landed and the State Trooper helicopter lifted off. 

 It was so awesome to watch!

 After that spectacle, we started off with shooting fire hoses at targets, very fun! In the morning it wasn't too hot out so we didn't even consider sprayi

ng ourselves.....but as the day wore on, it got up to about 101 degrees!

Next we got to explore some police cars and learn some of their secrets!

Then we did a firemans relay where the boys got to roll up the firehose, carry an "injured" person, dress up like fireman and do a water brigade line.

Next we learned more about Search and Rescue and how to stay put if you ever get separated from your group while in the wilderness.

After lunch, we got a tour of the County Sheriff's Mobile Command Center.  We would've had the opportunity after that to tour the AirMed helicopter but unfortunately they had an emergency to tend to while we were on our lunch break....a big bummer for both the boys and me! So instead, the boys got to play on the playground for a while.

The next station was another Fire Departments and they had a really neat obstacle course with the end obstacle being to spray a target with a hose......this is where it got interesting!  The boys were having fun spraying each other as the leaders were looking at them dying of heat and thinking to themselves, "that looks like it feels good!"

So I waved at the fireman helping the boys and asked for a little squirt....well, somehow he missed the little and we all ended up soaked! Good Going, JENNI!

Luckily, it felt really good and I was able to shield the camera that was in my hands from the water!

Next, at the same station, I got volunteered to get all dressed up as a fireman and run the obstacle course....tubes and all!  It was soooo hot! But I'm glad that I can say that I did it.

Lastly, we got to see the inside of an Ambulance and learn about the equipment they use regularly and what 3 things are needed when you call 9-1-1.  Just in case you don't know, they are: Your Address, What Happened, and Your Phone Number.

It was a really fun event and I think the boys learned a lot of fun new things as did I!

Connor has done some of the silliest things over the past few days that I had to document them.  This is him "stuck" in the chair.  He was laughing really hard.

I wanted to post one of him and the rubber fireman's boots that he's been wearing everywhere, rain or shine. But I haven't been able to snap a shot of them quite yet.  He has such a great sense of style.....Watch out Project Runway!

Stansbury Days

My good friend, Katie, and I are working together in a company called SendOutCards.

This company has meant more than just a little help with our finances as we've worked at building our teams. We have truly been blessed by helping others and love the opportunity to work with so positive a cause.

We decided to get a booth at a local fair and had a fantastic time and met some wonderful people!

Cheese!

This was the cutest thing.  Connor's cousin, Amanda Elaina, doesn't pose for the camera for longer than about half a second.  Somehow this became a game and we decided we could probably get a better movie out of it than a still photo.  So we tricked the little stinkers, muah-ha-ha-ha!

Zuki Ride PLEASE!

Connor insisted on a Zuki Ride before bed one night. It was so cute!

Visit from Kentucky!

Sam's sister, Emily, and her family surprised us with a visit from Kentucky last week.  It was so fun having them around. The first day they were here we went to the Red Butte Gardens, which was a new experience for me.

It was so PRETTY!

The plants and flowers were just beautiful, and the kids had a blast playing in the water fountains and feeding the HUGE goldfish, and the ducks.

It was so fun having all of the cousins together under the same roof, even if it was SUPER crowded and VERY noisy! Bedtime was really interesting and the longest process ever!

Trampoline Fun

Some of Sam's cousins came into town last week so we had a big family get together out in Grantsville.  They have a trampoline and someone (Thanks Darren!) had a really nice camera!  It was loads of fun. I pulled out some of my old cheerleading jumps.  Connor had fun too!

Connor's got Style!

Lately he's been wearing different pairs of my shoes around the house and neighborhood.  Currently these are his favorites....and I have to agree with him.  Beauty isn't always painful!

Eight Months Old!

Hard to believe he's eight months already. Bear started crawling about a week before he turned 8 months. And he's kind of doing the one knee, one foot crawl thing, as exhibited in the movie and pictures. It's super cute though.




Don't mind the lady with the camera...she's kind of crazy and forgot that she wasn't taking still pictures which she can rotate after uploading them.

Four Wheelin Fun!

I could kick myself for not plugging the camera in the night before this event but it was lots of fun, nonetheless. I have to document it anyway because I was so thrilled that Sam took the initiative and planned a date for us without my help AT ALL!!!!!! He even arranged a babysitter for the boys! Go hunny!

We went on a double date up the Jacob City Loop Trail on a couple of four wheelers that our friends, Travis and Emily, have. We rode tandem and it was my first time really riding a four wheeler for any length of time. I came home sore, like I'd been riding a horse. Sam made me drive it at one point and I had a really fun time. I think four wheelers are in our future.

The views at the top were absolutely beautiful. We could see for miles as it was so clear. It was really dusty on the trail, though, and when we got home it was funny to see the dirt marks where our sunglasses had protected our eyes. When I ran my hands through my hair it was like sand paper....gross! Getting in the shower felt so good! I was feeling really grateful for having running water, unlike the pioneers who must've had that feeling all day everyday for months....uck.

Next time....I'll plug the camera in beforehand and get some pictures.
