Swaddled

After swaddling Bear, Connor decided he wanted to be swaddled too! The blanket we had almost fit! haha, I can't believe that Connor used to be as small as Bear. So cute!

Christmas 2008

Guy, Connor and Bear on Christmas Eve

This was such a fun year! We stayed at my grandparents house in Provo with my parents and my brother and his family. Here are a few more pictures of the festivities.

Guy and Bear on Christmas morning

Connor showed everyone his cool truck before touching another present.

How rude!

So, it starts out as a normal day at Target with a newborn and a two year old. Bear is sleeping like an angel in his car seat and Connor is insisting that he push the massive cart without any help. I'm gently trying to steer the cart without him noticing that I'm touching it. We narrowly miss several racks and unsuspecting customers. And then, in the middle of the aisle, Connor doesn't want to go any further and doesn't want me to go either. Too bad for him, right? So I start pushing the cart and here it comes....TANTRUM in TARGET! So I continue to walk away, turning back to try and entice him to come with me. He refuses, so I continue to walk away(of course, keeping an eye on him the entire time....I'm not a negligent parent!). When I get a little ways from him, this guy comes up to me and with an attitude says, "You could go back there and pick him up instead of walking away from him." I won't go through all of the things that I spat back at him but I can tell you that a crowd started to form and watch the excitement. After the excitement ended when I told him to leave, a nice older lady came up to me and said that I was doing the right thing and that she, as a teacher, sees far too many children whose parents never taught discipline. It made me feel good that she thought I was doing the right thing. Also, it's important to include that while she and I were chatting...Connor slowly made his way back to my side. What a good boy!

Moral: Don't tell a native New Yorker Mom of two children how to parent her two year old unless she asks for your input. You will be asking for a scene.

Connor's 2 year photo shoot

Kiddie Kandids does a great job of capturing cute kid shots. And for those of you who don't already know, they give you a free 8x10 on every birthday. Connor went to get his pictures done at the end of November so we would make sure to get them done. He was a bit difficult but somehow, the photographer managed to get a couple good ones.

This was to convince Connor that being the object of attention wouldn't hurt. Mommy had to have her picture taken too. Luckily, her belly is all that is in the picture. I thought it was cute....

This is the one we got for his birthday shot.

And this was just too cute not to include in the bunch! We have this displayed on our mantle and Connor always goes up to point at it and says "frog".

15 days old

Bear is already packing on the pounds! He had his two week check up on Wednesday this week and instead of just getting back up to his birth weight of 7 lbs. 8 oz., he's put on more than half of a pound! He weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and his doctor, Sara, is impressed that he is such an over achiever at this stage of the game. He's more and more fun everyday!

I'm not sure why he thinks this is the most comfortable position for sleeping in his bouncer but he's gotten himself like this more than once, so obviously, it's preferable. He's 10 days old here:

Wide eyed and bushy-tailed at 15 days....

Mama and Bear

At the hospital, I had quite a bit of alone time with Bear but there wasn't really anyone around to take pictures(not that I was all that flattering to look at). So last night I asked Sam to take a couple of me and the little guy.

He happened to get this great shot of him smiling too!

It's so fun having a newborn at home. He truly is sent straight from heaven.

Coming Home

My grandparents came to visit right before we checked out of the hospital. Here is a really really cute close up of the little Bear.

Also, Connor really wanted to hold Bear when we took him out of the car seat at home. He did such a good job being gentle. He even gave kisses and loves to say "Hi baby!" He hasn't quite gotten the "Bear" part yet....

Hopefully over the weekend we'll get some shots with the mama in them!

Bear Amadeus Montague

He's arrived! Forgive the nudey picture but I figured his first photo would be the best one to display at first! After a surprisingly pleasant 8 hour labor, Bear Amadeus Montague was born at 12:48pm on December 3, 2008. He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 18 1/4 inches long. Presently, Bear is relaxing with dad on the sofa watching the Discovery Channel. Here are a few more pictures from the last two days.
