Snazzy Accent Chairs

I'm not a big sewer AT ALL. But the uses of a sewing machine are plentiful and when Sam found me a sewing machine for my birthday a year and a half ago, I was very very grateful. Since then I've bound a few quilts with it and made some nursing covers to sell. However, all of those projects were really simple and rather boring.

Last week at DI, I found two very classy chairs for $6 a piece. The covers on them were trashed but I just thought I might be able to figure out a way to reupholster them so we picked them up.

We were planning on getting a new living room set for our den but haven't because the room is kind of an awkward shape and finding the right set up for us has been challenging. These chairs are the perfect solution. It gives us the seating we want without all of the space being taken up with a loveseat.

Here is the semi-finished chair. The finishing touches of sewing on the velcro and seaming the edges are all that's left. All major seams and pieces are sewed together....and it ACTUALLY FITS!

I'm rather impressed with myself, I must admit. Now I only have one chair left to do! The goal is to have it done by Saturday for our Open House.....

Pirates for Mav!

This is my latest completed project. It's been done for a while but I had to wait for little Maverick to come into this world before I could put the finishing touches on it and then get it framed for him.

I think it came out really good and will go AMAZING in his Pirate themed nursery.

New Nickname

So in the recent weeks, Bear has literally made the most child-proof locations, dangerous. From falling off stools and slipping on tile floors to cutting himself on a tricycle and bumping his head on a stationary jungle gym that has NO moving parts.

Last night, I jokingly called him, Bruiser, after looking at the current state of affairs on his face. I think the name has most definitely stuck. So here is a couple pictures of the latest battle wounds on little Bruiser's face.

He sure looks happy about it, doesn't he?

Playtime!

The kids have found themselves doing the funniest things in the past couple weeks since I started staying home with them. I had to take a few pictures.

This was taken about two minutes after Connor finished telling me that he didn't want or need to take a nap..... Yep, I know sweetie.

Goofing around
Playing with a toy car....
After mommy said we couldn't play in the doggy bowls....
Oh the joys of emptying the toy box....
Mommy! I have no idea how those books ended up down there and I in here! Help me out!
Connor is under Bear and apparently Bear wants in!
Bear finally gets in.

These two are so fun! They certainly keep me on my toes!
